Bodies of Francis and Waldron found 500 feet apart in mangroves, police say

Francis and Waldron in happier times

The bodies of Andri Francis of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, and Lyodisa Waldron of the same address were found in mangroves along the Unity Sea Front, East Coast Demerara, on Tuesday during search operations.

Police said ranks, along with a search party comprising public-spirited citizens, conducted a coordinated search around 13:00hrs after the two went missing on Sunday. Francis’ body was first discovered within the mangroves at Unity Sea Front, followed by Waldron’s body about 500 feet away in the same area.

The bodies were retrieved and identified by relatives before being escorted to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. They were later taken to the Memorial Funeral Home, where they await post-mortem examinations.

Investigations are ongoing.
