
Attorney Arudranauth Gossai was elected President of The Bar Association of Guyana on Friday, following elections at the association’s 47th Annual General Meeting held via the Zoom online platform.
Gossai, who previously served as Second Vice-President on the outgoing Council, led a slate that defeated nominees headed by attorney Darren Wade for control of the 2026–2027 Bar Council.
The association said the AGM recorded the highest membership attendance in its history, reflecting strong engagement and interest among members.
Former President Kamal Ramkarran was elected First Vice-President, while Teni Housty was elected Second Vice-President.
Yashmini Singh was re-elected Secretary, Samuel Glasgow was elected Treasurer, and Mohanie Anganoo was elected Assistant Secretary.
Other members elected to the Bar Council are Robin Stoby, SC, Jamela Ali, SC, Horatio Edmondson, Rea Harris, Chevy Devonish, and Ron Motilall.
Rajendra Jaigobin served as Returning Officer for the election process.
