The United States says it values its strong relationship with Guyana and supports efforts aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and long-term stability as the country celebrates its 60th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement marking Guyana’s Independence Day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States looks forward to deepening cooperation with Guyana in support of shared interests and a more secure and prosperous hemisphere.
Rubio said the United States appreciates its close cooperation with Guyana in advancing regional security, supporting territorial integrity and countering transnational crime.
He also recognised Guyana’s growing role as an economic leader in the region and noted the expanding commercial ties between the two countries, which he said are creating new opportunities for investment, trade and energy development.
“On behalf of the Government of the United States, I extend best wishes to the people of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on your 60th Independence Day,” Secretary Rubio said.
