
The Lusignan Golf Club will host the Ready Mix Concrete Limited/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Independence Golf Tournament on May 26 as part of activities marking Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.
The tournament will be played at the club’s championship course under medal play format over 18 holes, with a shotgun start scheduled for 8 a.m.
The competition will feature two male flights and one female flight. The male category will be divided into handicaps 0–13 and 14–28, while the ladies’ division will cater for handicaps ranging from 0–36.
Players will compete for prizes in categories including Best Net in each flight, first, second and third place finishes, Ladies Overall Best Net, Overall Best Net, Best Gross, Nearest to the Flag and Longest Drive.
Following the tournament, players and patrons will be served lunch and refreshments, including XM Rum provided by Banks DIH Limited.
Ready Mix Concrete Limited, a longstanding supporter of golf in Guyana, has partnered with the Lusignan Golf Club on several tournaments, including the Guyana Open.
Chief Executive Officer of Ready Mix Concrete Limited, Munesh Ruplall, said the company was pleased to support the tournament as Guyana celebrates 60 years of Independence.
Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle said the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport remained committed to supporting the development of golf in Guyana and assisting the Lusignan Golf Club with the successful hosting of tournaments.
The event forms part of activities commemorating Guyana’s Diamond Jubilee Independence celebrations.
