The new, state-of-the-art Brickdam Police Station

The new, state-of-the-art Brickdam Police Station is set for completion by year-end, with 85 per cent of major works already completed.

Home Affairs Minister Oneidge Waldron said on state television that the project will be completed in December, with electrical, safety and other internal systems now being installed.

“We are 85 per cent completed. We are now going to install the fire suppression system, electrical installations. The project will be completed by December 2026, the end of this year,” the minister said.

The modern 12-storey Brickdam Police Station is being constructed at a cost of US$28 million and will serve as a high-tech central headquarters for police operations in the city, featuring improved holding cells, specialised investigative units and enhanced security.

The concrete, steel and glass structure will serve as the new ‘A’ Division Headquarters, replacing the old Eve Leary facility and transferring all services to the new location.

This project is a collaborative effort between R. Bassoo and Sons Construction and Qing Jian Group Company Guyana Incorporated, drawing on the expertise of both local and international partners.

The Government of Guyana has highlighted its push to modernise the Guyana Police Force through improved service delivery, enhanced infrastructure and upgraded systems. Renovations and upgrades to other police stations are ongoing across the country.
