Defending champions President’s College successfully retained their title at the ExxonMobil Guyana Regional Inter-Schools Kayaking Competition, finishing with 69 points.
The competition, organised by Elite Kayaking and Nature Tours, was held near the Watooka Guest House landing in Linden and featured 11 participating schools.
President’s College set the tone early, winning the Under-14 mixed short-distance race through Shane Johnson and Chelsea Lyte.
The pair continued their dominance across categories, contributing to additional victories, including the Under-16 mixed short-distance event alongside Nalini LaRose, while Lyte also secured first place in the Under-16 female singles.
Meanwhile, host school New Silvercity Secondary placed second with 57 points, highlighted by wins in both the male and female long-distance races, as well as the open mixed short-distance event.
Additionally, Kwakwani Secondary improved its standing significantly, moving from fifth last year to third with 52 points, aided by a victory in the open female singles.
Prizes included $500,000 for first place, $350,000 for second place, and $250,000 for third place.
