Region Ten Tourism Committee Chairman, Laurence Simon, has urged leaders in the Linden community to embrace innovation, investment and inspiration as pillars for growth.
Highlighting opportunities for diversification in a shifting economic landscape, Simon said Linden is moving beyond its traditional identity, with emerging sectors such as tourism, agro-processing, digital services and cultural industries.
“We must inspire young people to see opportunities right here in Linden and inspire the diaspora to reconnect and reinvest,” he said.
Simon added that the community must boldly redefine its economic identity. However, he cautioned that ideas alone are not enough, urging stronger collaboration with the Linden Chamber to address financing gaps and unlock opportunities in areas such as hospitality, transportation and tourism.
“Continue to innovate, lead the transformation of business in Region Ten, encourage your members to diversify, digitise and develop products that align with emerging sectors such as tourism and the green economy. Continue to invest — be bold — invest in infrastructure and scalable enterprises,” he urged.
He pointed to a shifting economic landscape, emphasising that Region Ten must “boldly redefine its economic identity,” adding that “the future belongs to the communities that innovate beyond tradition, invest with intention and inspire through collective action.”
“Innovation is the bridge between where we were and where we must go,” he stated.
However, he cautioned that ideas alone are not enough.
“Innovation without investment remains an idea,” Simon said.
He also stressed the importance of sustaining growth, noting that inspiration is what sustains momentum.
