The Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) has re-elected Anasha Ally as president for a third term, following the club's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday.

Ally, who participated in the meeting via Zoom, will continue to lead the club as it seeks to further develop golf in Guyana, strengthen its membership and expand opportunities for golfers.

The AGM also saw the appointment of the club's executive and key officials, who will work alongside Ally in overseeing the club's operations and activities. The leadership team comprises Vice President Joseph Szeplaki, Secretary Chetwynd Bowling, Treasurer Bala Vinjimoor, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Princessa Wilkie, Ground Superintendent Brian Hackett, Club Captain Ayube Subhan and Public Relations Officer Dr Joaan Deo.

Speaking after the AGM, Ally reflected on personal challenges she faced over the past year, noting that they prompted a period of introspection. Despite these challenges, she said, the executive team remained committed to its vision of transforming Lusignan Golf Club into a top-class facility.

"As I begin my third term with this new executive, our vision is to build on the progress we have made and take the club to an even higher level. We have plans to improve the clubhouse, fences, driveway and golf course, including treating the trees, improving the greens and controlling pests," Ally said.

She said the club also intends to acquire a second greens mower, building on its successful collaboration with the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry, which saw both parties contribute equally towards the acquisition of the club's current mower.
"Additionally, we plan to undertake drain-clearing works and address the challenges posed by water shortages during the dry season, as an adequate water supply is essential to maintaining the golf course and ensuring that it remains in top condition," she said.

Ally also outlined plans to further promote the club as a venue of choice for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions, and reaffirmed its commitment to expanding youth and women's participation in golf.
The Lusignan Golf Club continues to play a role in promoting golf in Guyana through competitions, membership development and initiatives aimed at growing participation in the sport.
