Linden being positioned as corridor of opportunity, economic growth

Linden is being positioned as a corridor of opportunity and economic growth in Region Ten, following the hosting of the 2026 Business Exposition.

The event, organised by the Linden Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Development, premiered at the Retrieve Ground over the weekend under the theme, “Unlocking Sustainable Development Opportunities, Transforming Businesses Beyond Boundaries.”

Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation Zulfikar Ally, who declared the event open on Friday, underscored Linden’s role as a growing hub of economic opportunity driven by strategic investments.

“Linden is evolving,” he said, noting that the town is becoming “a gateway to the hinterland, a corridor of opportunity, and a hub for innovation, enterprise and growth.”

The event featured a wide range of exhibitors showcasing local products and services. Lauren Caesar, a representative of Blue Lake Wine, one of the businesses on show, highlighted the wide variety of wines available for consumers to purchase. The business has been in operation for two years.

“We have sorrel wine, we have some cane juice samples, guava wine and jamoon wine,” she told Ignite News.
Meanwhile, Michael James, owner of MJ’s Mocktails and Cocktails, said his business offers both original and popular blends.

“We create a lot of drinks that showcase Linden. One is the Blue Lake, Blueberry Hill Sunrise, and there’s one named the Brown Skin Girl. There are a couple more we have available at the expo. I was invited by members of the Chamber and I think it’s a good way to promote my business,” he said.

A representative of Banks DIH Limited, Latifah Phillips, said the company was excited to showcase new additions to its product line.

“We have our Tastee Snacks back on the market. Some people are not aware that we have this product right now, so we’re glad to be here to market it and reach our target demographic, which is children,” she said.

Coordinator Amar Chetram said the expo is designed “to create market access between businesses and consumers, particularly among smaller emerging enterprises.”

The Chamber also outlined an ambitious vision to transform the area into a thriving commercial centre where entrepreneurs gain exposure, build a customer base, test and improve their products, and expand business relationships.
