The Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force, has launched an online system allowing motorists and businesses to apply digitally for vehicle tint exemptions under new national regulations.
The Online Tint Waiver Application System enables individuals, companies and organisations to submit applications, upload supporting documents, track the status of requests and download approved waivers through the portal.
Applications can be submitted at https://tint.moha.gov.gy.
Home Affairs Minister Oneidge Walrond said the platform is intended to improve transparency and expand public access to government services while supporting enforcement of the country’s tint rules.
Under the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Tint) Regulations 2026, the minimum allowable visible light transmission (VLT) levels are set at 25 per cent for front side windows and 20 per cent for rear side windows and the rear windscreen. Tint is not permitted on the front windscreen, except for a six-inch visor strip.
Authorities have set an amnesty period until March 31, after which the Guyana Police Force will fully enforce the regulations.
Non-compliance may result in a fine of G$30,000, officials said.
