A 31-year-old businesswoman of No. 50 Village, Corentyne, Berbice was robbed of $9,040,000 in cash and an iPhone 17 Pro Max after she was confronted by an armed man within the compound of a financial institution at Springlands, Corriverton, Berbice.
The incident occurred about 12:45hrs on Thursday, police said.
The woman had arrived at the location with a small suitcase containing $9,000,000 and a shoulder bag containing cash and a cellular phone. While walking towards the financial institution, she was allegedly confronted by a male who tugged at her shoulder bag and pressed an object against her waist while threatening to shoot her.
The victim reportedly became fearful and released the suitcase, after which the suspect also relieved her of the shoulder bag, which contained $15,040 and the iPhone.
The suspect then escaped and joined another male who was waiting on a motorcycle, and the pair rode away in a southern direction.
CCTV cameras were seen in the area and footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
