Guyana is positioning itself in the global artificial intelligence race, as Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo participates in the India AI Impact Summit, a major forum shaping how the world develops and regulates the fast-growing technology.

Jagdeo was received by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior government officials, in a visit New Delhi says will further strengthen bilateral ties.
Opening the summit, Modi warned that AI’s power must be matched by strong safeguards, built on data sovereignty, transparent safety rules and human-centred governance, while calling for global cooperation to prevent misuse.
The meeting is expected to end with an international declaration promoting economic growth, social inclusion and sustainable development through artificial intelligence.
Key pillars include human capital development, trustworthy and energy-efficient systems, expanded access to AI tools and deeper scientific collaboration.
The forum also proposes new platforms to democratise AI and guide responsible global governance, areas where Guyana is seeking to build future partnerships.
