Police are investigating after what is believed to be a human skull was discovered on the Number One Foreshore at Albion, Corentyne Berbice, on Monday.
The remains were found at approximately 11:22 a.m. by a 23-year-old employee of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority who was working in the area. He immediately contacted the Albion Police Station after realising that the object resembled a human skull.
Police officers subsequently visited the scene on the southern side of the Number One Public Road, where the skull was examined and photographed. Officials noted that the remains appeared to have been at the location for an extended period prior to their discovery.
The skull was taken to Ramoo Funeral Home, where it is being kept pending further analysis.
Authorities are continuing their investigations to establish the identity of the remains.
