Guyana finishes second overall at IGG

Guyana finished second overall at the 2025 Inter-Guiana Games (IGG), which concluded on Sunday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The host nation ended with 75 points, while Suriname secured the 2025 IGG title with 83 points. French Guiana placed third with 73 points.

Guyana dominated Track and Field, Chess, and Futsal, winning all three disciplines, but fell short in volleyball, swimming, and basketball.

The games were lauded by Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs, who described the event as “unifying” among the three nations.

The 2026 Inter-Guiana Games will be held in Suriname, with dates yet to be announced.
