Police probe possible network behind Regent Street bombing

Investigators are working to determine whether Sunday’s deadly explosion at the Mobil Service Station on Regent Street was part of a wider plot, following the arrest of Venezuelan national Daniel Alexander Ramirez.
During a Joint Services press conference earlier today, Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken said the Force is pursuing intelligence to establish whether Ramirez acted alone or as part of a larger organisation. He described the case as a top-priority investigation, coordinated at the highest level of the Force.
The Commissioner revealed that the suspect was tracked and captured through the combined efforts of investigators and the Safe City Command Centre, which used surveillance technology to trace his movements.
Ramirez has been charged with terrorism, while additional charges of murder, attempted murder, arson, and damage to property are awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The blast, which occurred on Sunday, claimed the life of a six-year-old child and left several others injured. The Commissioner said the investigation remains active as authorities continue to probe the motive and any potential links to organised activity.
