Minister Ramraj inspects progress on Lima Sands Phase 5 Road Project

Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Hon. Madanlall Ricky Ramraj, recently conducted an inspection of the Lima Sands Phase 5 Road Project to assess the progress of ongoing works.

He was accompanied by newly sworn-in Regional Chairman Devin Mohan, Engineer Lokenauth Balkishun from the Ministry of Public Works, the Regional Executive Officer, Regional Agriculture Coordinator, Regional Engineer, and other regional officials.

Phase Five of the project consists of three lots, each measuring approximately 860 meters, for a total of 2.58 kilometers. Once completed, this phase will finalize the entire Lima Sands roadway, linking Red Lock and the Mainstay/Whyaka junction to the Mac Nab Bridge. According to the Ministry, the project is expected to be completed ahead of schedule within the coming weeks.

What was once a swampy and nearly impassable stretch of road is now being transformed into a modern, paved asphalt roadway that will significantly improve accessibility and enhance the quality of life for residents of Lima Sands.

The Ministry described the project as a reflection of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Government’s commitment to advancing community development, improving connectivity, and ensuring equitable access to modern infrastructure across Guyana, particularly in hinterland and rural communities.
