Ministers visit historic Round House to advance Georgetown beautification efforts

Minister of Housing and Water, Hon. Collin Croal, and Minister within the Ministry, Hon. Vanessa Benn, on Monday visited the historic Round House at the Kingston seawall to discuss plans aimed at enhancing the site’s appeal and functionality.

During the visit, the Ministers outlined strategies to maximize the potential of the 19th-century landmark for a range of community and cultural activities. Proposed upgrades include extensive landscaping, the installation of additional garbage receptacles, and the construction of new washroom facilities to improve visitor comfort and cleanliness.

The initiative forms part of the broader Georgetown Beautification Project, a collaborative undertaking between the Ministry of Housing and Water, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Office of the First Lady.

Accompanying the Ministers were Mr. Nigel Hoppie, Head of CH&PA’s Enforcement and Compliance Department; Mr. Ravin Singh, Director of Projects, Policy and Public Affairs at the Office of the First Lady; and an engineer from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).

The project aims to preserve the historical and cultural value of the Round House while promoting greater public engagement with the city’s waterfront spaces.
