KFC launches international school football tournament

The sixth annual KFC International Secondary School Football Tournament is set to be the biggest yet, with youth teams from Brazil and The Bahamas confirmed to participate for the first time.

The Under-18 competition will run from December 14 to 21 at two Georgetown venues — the Ministry of Education Ground and the Queen’s College Ground. This year’s tournament will feature schools from six countries, making it the largest edition to date.

Brazil will be represented by State School Monteiro Lobato, while Anglican Central Education Authority will make the trip from The Bahamas. They join established teams from Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Suriname, alongside local sides.

Guyana will be represented by defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation and Annai Secondary. From Jamaica, Kingston College has been confirmed, while the final two school spots — one from Guyana and one from Suriname — will be determined by upcoming local competitions.

The competition will be staged in a round-robin knockout format, with teams battling for the coveted championship title.
