India dominates West Indies on Day 1 of 1st Test in Ahmedabad

India seized control of the first Test against the West Indies on Thursday, dismissing the visitors for just 162 runs on the opening day at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The Indian bowling attack was led by Mohammed Siraj, who claimed 4 wickets for 40 runs, supported by Jasprit Bumrah’s 3 wickets for 42 runs and Kuldeep Yadav’s 2 for 25.

West Indies struggled to build partnerships, with key batsmen failing to make significant contributions.

At stumps, India were 121 for 2 in their first innings, trailing by 41 runs. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 53 runs from 114 balls, anchoring India’s response alongside Shubman Gill, who contributed 18 runs.

Cricket fans and analysts hailed India’s bowling performance, particularly praising Siraj and Bumrah for their incisive spells that put the West Indies under pressure early on.

Social media reactions highlighted the commanding position India secured after the first day, with many noting the disciplined bowling and solid batting display.

The match will continue on Friday, October 3, as India look to extend their advantage while the West Indies seek to recover from their first-innings collapse.
