GWI: Low water pressure in multiple Linden areas due to plant issue

Residents in several Linden communities are experiencing reduced water service following an emergency issue at the Wisroc Water Treatment Plant.

According to the Guyana Water Inc. (GWI), affected areas include Wisroc Park, Block 22, Phase 1 B & Phase 2 B, One Mile Extension, Blue Berry Hill, Green Valley, Cholmondeley Hill, Wismar Hill Housing Scheme, One Mile, Half Mile, and Canvas City.

GWI explained that the disruption is the result of a damaged shaft at the plant, which has forced operations to continue with only one pump in service. Customers in the affected zones are therefore receiving lower-than-normal water levels.

The utility confirmed that its technical team has been mobilized to repair the damaged shaft and is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

In a statement, GWI urged residents to report any further water disruptions or visible damage to pipelines or infrastructure to 227-8701 and to monitor the company’s Facebook page for updates.

No timeline for full restoration has yet been provided, but GWI emphasized that the situation is being addressed as a priority.
