
Defending champions Santa Rosa Primary School began their title defense in the Courts Optical Pee-Wee Tournament with two victories on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground.
They first defeated Goed Fortune Primary 6-0, with Taz LaRose scoring four goals and Michael Harris contributing two. Later in the day, Santa Rosa edged out North Georgetown 1-0, thanks to another goal from LaRose.
Last year’s runners-up, Marian Academy, struggled to start their campaign, managing only a 0-0 draw against Georgetown International Academy. Meanwhile, West Ruimveldt Primary made a strong impression with a 4-0 win over St. Aloysius Primary, highlighted by a hat-trick from Yanique Cadogan.
In other results; Tucville Primary defeated St. Stephen 2-0, St. Gabriel’s Primary defeated St. Stephen 3-0, Leonora Primary outclassed Clonbrook Primary 4-1, and Potaro Primary won against Winfer Gardens 3-1. St. Pius Primary drew 0-0 with Agatash Primary, while Batavia Primary and St. Mary’s Primary also played to a scoreless draw.
The tournament continues on October 4, with another 12 matches scheduled to kick off at 10:00hrs at the Ministry of Education ground.
