Guyana’s Emanuel Archibald missed the chance to compete in the men’s long jump final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
In the qualifying round on Monday, Archibald competed in Group B and registered a best jump of 7.62 meters, which was not enough to advance to the finals. He finished 30th overall out of 36 competitors.
In a Facebook post, Archibald expressed disappointment with the result but remained optimistic about the future.
“Not the results I anticipated. After putting in the work this year, I still fell short, but we’ll regroup and aim for next year,” he wrote.
With this performance, Archibald’s season comes to a close, also marking the end of Guyana’s participation in the championships, where he was the country’s sole representative.
