The upcoming International Business Conference (IBC) in Guyana will provide a platform to strengthen trade between the United States and the Caribbean, US Ambassador Nicole Theriot said on Friday.
The October 14-16 event, organised by the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce under the theme “Bridging Businesses for Regional Prosperity”, aims to connect regional firms with international partners.
Ambassador Theriot said the conference comes at a time of significant growth in Guyana’s economy.
“Whether its infrastructure, energy, ICT, agriculture or health, there are opportunities for US firms with proven track records to bring quality solutions, technology and expertise to Guyana,” she said, adding that “It’s a one-stop-shop… a unique opportunity to help forge the future of regional trade and investment.”
The diplomat noted that US firms are well positioned to support Guyana’s development while using the IBC as a direct link to stakeholders. The embassy, she said, also facilitates two-way trade missions that allow Caribbean businesses to attend major expos in the United States, while US companies participate in Guyana’s Energy Conference and other regional trade events.
“We are not just here for a quick visit and to make money… we are committed to the sustainable growth and development of the Caribbean and of course Guyana,” Theriot said, adding that the embassy remains committed to backing US businesses that bring long-term value and integrity to the region.
