Former Finance Minister in the APNU government, Winston Jordan, has called on opposition leader and APNU presidential candidate Aubrey Norton to accept the results of General and Regional Elections and “move on.”

Jordan advised Norton to focus on rebuilding A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).

“After this recount, accept and move on. There’s a lot of work to be done, you have to be able to use social media. Your messaging has to be clear, precise,” Jordan said during a live broadcast on the social media platform KAMS TV.

Jordan described the party’s performance in the elections as “devastating” and urged Norton to conduct deep introspection, engage with citizens year-round, and develop strategies to reach younger voters.

“The demographic that you are reaching is aging, so the young demographic– and you started on the right track with the number of young people that you brought in, it’s just that those people only came to the fore very late. But you have to do that introspection, no time for gnashing of teeth,” he said.

He added that the party’s manifesto failed to connect with ordinary citizens, blaming what he said was an ineffective strategy and weak messaging.

“The party has to remake itself, it has to remake its image. You have to look at whether PNC is a viable entity, whether it should go back to PNC/R as some people are suggesting– that you work on the ‘reform’ component,” Jordan said.

He also urged the party to monetise its resources, explore business opportunities, and improve its use of social media to secure constant funding.
