Poonai Pharmacy in Rose Hall Town has renewed its sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club’s under-11 and under-13 cricket teams during a ceremony held recently at the Area H Ground. The pharmacy’s CEO, Poonai Bhigroog, presented the sponsorship to club cricket manager, Robby Kissoonlall, in the presence of team members and club secretary, Hilbert Foster.
Poonai Pharmacy first sponsored the under-13 team in 2020 and extended its support to the under-11 team in 2023. Since then, the under-13 side has captured the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) title on four occasions, most recently edging out arch-rivals Albion by ten runs to secure their fourth championship in six years.
Kissoonlall praised the pharmacy’s support as a key factor in the teams’ success, noting that the under-11 squad also clinched victory in their age group tournament in 2023. He further highlighted that the youth programme has produced more than 20 players for Berbice, with several progressing to represent Guyana, including Raffel Mckemzie, Tameshwar Deochand, Trishna Hardat, and Leon Reddy.
Foster expressed gratitude to Bhigroog for his continued support and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to maintaining high standards.
