The Guyana Center for Civic Engagement (GYCCE) has called on all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful and responsible manner, stressing that elections are not only a right but a civic responsibility.
“Voting empowers citizens to shape the future of our nation,” the group said. “Elections provide an opportunity for the voices of the people to be heard, and the ballot remains the most powerful tool in a democracy.”
GYCCE urged first-time voters to seize the historic moment, noting that their participation strengthens the democratic process and ensures that the concerns and aspirations of their generation are represented at the national level.
The organisation also stressed the importance of patience, respect for others’ rights, and adherence to lawful conduct, emphasising that elections should unite, rather than divide, the country.
Voters were reminded that only the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is authorised to declare official results, and citizens were cautioned against speculation and misinformation.
“By voting peacefully and responsibly, we affirm our commitment to unity, progress, and the vision of ‘One People, One Nation, One Destiny,’” GYCCE said.
