Guyanese social media commentators Mikhail Rodrigues, popularly known as the “Guyanese Critic,” and Bryan Max are scheduled to appear in court on Monday following a physical altercation during a live broadcast, police said.

Rodrigues was granted bail in the sum of $50,000, while Max was released on $25,000. Police confirmed that both men have been contacted by investigators and are cooperating with the probe.

The incident, which occurred earlier in the day, has drawn widespread public attention. During the livestream, Max was heard speaking condescendingly to Ossie Rogers, who was a guest in Rodrigues’ studio. He questioned Rogers about an incident in which Rogers allegedly assaulted a woman in a supermarket two years ago, a matter that was never pursued. Rogers, in turn, told Max to “worry about himself.”

Reports indicate that Max was at Rodrigues’ studio to collect money on behalf of two individuals when the situation escalated. Max allegedly hurled insults at Rodrigues, prompting him to rise from his chair and slap Max. On impact, Max appeared to fall to the ground and was heard breathing heavily before the livestream abruptly ended.

Shortly after, a photograph circulated online showing Max with a bloodied face.
