The A Partnership For National Unity (APNU) says it will implement policies and measures to enable youth to access grants and low-interest loans, once elected.
In a statement to mark National Youth Day 2025, the party said this will include a Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) and a National Youth Investment Fund.
The party also outlined plans to establish a permanent consultative mechanism to ensure that the voices of young people are heard and incorporated into decision-making.
National Chairman of the Guyana Youth and Student Movement, Kibwe Copeland, in remarks at an election campaign rally at Orange Walk, Georgetown, noted that another focus of the party is on sponsorship and insurance for national youth athletes.
“We will have a people-centred government. We will have a government that will invest in our young people– in sports. We will invest in our athletes. We will make sure they’re insured. Once you’re a national athlete you will be insured … you will be sponsored,” he said.
Copeland added that APNU will ensure that youth athletes are given the necessary resources to compete.
He further stated that young people will be placed at the centre of decision-making.
“You will see young people in Cabinet, as ministers, parliamentarians. You will see young people- male, female, of all ages and groups leading and pushing this country forward,” Copeland noted.
APNU also promised a modernised stock exchange, training for the public service, monthly cash transfers, business grants, and sustainable agriculture initiatives, among others.
