General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, has pledged increased housing, family support, and youth development initiatives for Region Two as part of the government’s broader development agenda.

Speaking on the first day of a two-day outreach in the region, Dr. Jagdeo engaged with residents of Good Hope, where he outlined the administration’s vision for advancing housing, healthcare, and infrastructure.

He pointed to the soon-to-be-commissioned Lima Regional Hospital as a transformative investment, expected to provide specialised healthcare services to thousands of residents. He also noted that ongoing infrastructure works will improve connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the quality of life for families along the Essequibo Coast.

Reflecting on the challenges of the past three years, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jagdeo said the PPP/C government has still delivered “tremendous work” nationwide.

He assured residents that the administration will continue to provide enhanced support to parents and families, deliver greater benefits to pensioners, open new lands for farming and economic activity, and expand upskilling programmes and online learning opportunities for young people.

“We are a party that brings people together. We are the only national party that brings people together—this is the only party that brings people together,” Dr. Jagdeo emphasised, drawing applause from the gathering.
