Women robbed by motorcycle bandits

Two women were robbed at gunpoint by motorcycle bandits around 21:30 hrs on Thursday night at Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.

The victims — 26-year-old teacher Rayleen Patterson of Parfaite Harmonie and her aunt, Alicia Brown of Sophia — were in Patterson’s yard when they were confronted by two armed men. One of the suspects, dressed in black with a handgun, held the women at gunpoint while his accomplice assisted in the robbery.

The bandits escaped with a gold chain worth approximately $350,000 belonging to Patterson, and $50,000 in cash along with a pair of gold earrings valued at $25,000 from Brown.

The suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle heading west. Police have launched a search, but no arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
