
The Essequibo Coast Lions Club has appointed Sabriena Harrychan as its 34th president during a ceremony held at the Club’s Den in Anna Regina.
The installation event, which underscored the spirit of service to humanity, was officiated by Past Council Chairperson Mohammed Shabir Hussain. In his address, he urged the new leadership to promote unity within the club and extend compassion and support to communities, schools, and households in need.
In her inaugural remarks, President Harrychan presented a vision focused on sustainability, social impact, and long-term service. She pledged to grow the club’s membership with individuals passionate about volunteerism, deliver impactful community projects that address genuine needs, and strengthen the club’s financial and operational systems.
“We exist not for recognition, but to make a difference,” she said, adding that “To feed the hungry, support our youth, bring light to those who cannot see, respond when disaster strikes, and offer hope where it may be in short supply.
Outgoing President Trea Austin reflected on her term with appreciation, highlighting the teamwork and solidarity that enabled the club to meet its goals. She encouraged the incoming executive to continue fostering a spirit of unity and compassion.
The 2025–2026 executive board includes 1st Vice President Sareva Rampersaud, 2nd Vice President Verna Young, Secretary Sunita Narine, Treasurer Sophia Raghunandan, Membership Chairperson Mohamed Ally, Service Chairperson Trea Austin, Marketing Chairperson Ajay Sharma, LCIF Coordinator Ravi Persaud, Director Sunil Singh, Tamer Gomatties Simon, and Tail Twister Reynold Jones.
Together, the team begins its term with a shared commitment to humanitarianism and a clear message that kindness, when driven by purpose, can transform communities.
