The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the results of the 2025 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) will be released on Wednesday at 11:00 am. The announcement was made by Education Minister, Priya Manickchand, in a video statement shared via the ministry’s official facebook page.
In her address, Minister Manickchand also highlighted two other national exams that were written today: the National Grade Five Diagnostic Assessment and the first-ever National Grade Nine Mathematics Assessment. According to the minister, both assessments are part of a wider initiative to use data-driven insights to strengthen the education system at all levels.
She explained that the Grade Five exam, introduced last year, has been used to assess where students are academically, what areas need reinforcement, and how teachers can adapt to meet those needs. The Grade Nine Mathematics Assessment, she said, is being used not just as an end-of-term test but as a diagnostic tool to inform planning for holiday interventions and preparation for CSEC-level exams.
“Even as we speak, children in Grade Nine are writing for the first time on the National Grade Nine Mathematics Assessment,” the minister noted. “It tells us what we know, what we can do in the August holidays, and what we need to do before we get to CXE next year.”
Turning to the NGSA, Minister Manickchand reaffirmed the ministry’s earlier commitment to releasing results before June 26 and confirmed that the official announcement will be made at 11:00 am on Wednesday. She expressed both pride and excitement about this milestone, particularly given the challenges students have overcome in the years since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re now five years post-COVID,” she said. “We had schools closed for two years, and that really hit us and continues to hit us now. But we’re also much closer to universal secondary education, and no matter what your results are, every child will be able to attend high school.”
The minister also highlighted the broader improvements made in the education sector, including the deployment of more trained teachers, the provision of free textbooks, better-equipped laboratories, and the availability of digital learning tools. She called it “a really exciting time to be a student in Guyana.”
The ministry is encouraging students, parents, and the general public to tune in for the official results announcement on Wednesday, June 25, as thousands of children across the country take the next step in their academic journey.
