
Police have arrested a 24-year-old gold miner in connection with the fatal stabbing of Rayon Lall, a 23-year-old truck porter from Port Kaituma, North West District.
The incident occurred around 05:00 hrs this morning.
The suspect, Mark Junior George, also known as “Killa”, was apprehended around 16:30 hrs at Train Line, Port Kaituma. He had previously served a three-year sentence for a narcotics offence. At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly wearing the same clothing worn during the alleged crime.
George was cautioned and informed of his rights. In response, he reportedly told police: “The man violated me.” He was taken to the Port Kaituma Police Station, where he was processed and remains in custody.
Lall was brought to the Port Kaituma Police Station by a colleague, 26-year-old Ewart Mingo, with a stab wound to the left side of his chest. He was rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital but succumbed while receiving treatment.
Lall’s body is currently at the Port Kaituma Hospital mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing.
