Nicholas Narine, called “Biggs”, a 28-year-old labourer of Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was allegedly murdered at around 08:15 hrs today on Titus Street, Agricola, EBD.
In a statement, police said they are searching for the suspect, Rafael Bollers, a 27-year-old unemployed man of Brutus Street, Agricola.
Investigations have so far revealed that Narine and the suspect were known to each other. At the time of the incident, Narine was in the company of others, cleaning a drain on Titus Street, just east of the suspect’s yard, which is bordered by a concrete fence.
The suspect, reportedly armed with a handgun, discharged several rounds in Narine’s direction. Narine fell to the ground, unable to move. The suspect then fled the scene, running southward with the firearm in his possession.
The injured man was rushed to the Diamond Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor and pronounced dead on arrival.
Narine sustained three gunshot wounds — one to his back, one to his right-side abdomen, and one to his upper right arm.
Detectives processed the scene and recovered one 9mm spent shell. Several individuals were questioned, and statements were taken. The body was later transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police say efforts are ongoing to locate the suspect, and investigations are continuing.
