Chief Investment Officer and Agency Head of the Guyana Office for Investment, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, marketed Guyana as an investment destination during a meeting with the envoy of Spain today.
The meeting with María Cristina Pérez Gutiérrez, Non-Resident Ambassador of Spain to Guyana, was held at GO-Invest.
A release said the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss avenues for enhanced economic cooperation between Guyana and Spain, particularly in light of Guyana’s growing role as a gateway to the wider Latin American and Caribbean region.
Dr. Ramsaroop highlighted the strategic advantage of Guyana’s deep-water port development and its capacity to serve as a trade and logistics hub, facilitating increased exports to European markets.
He also outlined the investment opportunities available across key sectors, including downstream oil and gas, agro-processing, infrastructure development, and medical tourism.
The ambassador expressed interest in exploring these areas further, noting the importance of identifying mutually beneficial partnerships.
Dr. Ramsaroop reaffirmed that Guyana’s investment climate is anchored in a strong legislative framework, with robust legal protections for foreign investors under the Investment Act and other supporting policies.
“We have a world of opportunities to work from,” the ambassador noted, underscoring the shared interest in building strategic and sustainable economic relations between Guyana and Spain.
