The Guyana Police Force has issued wanted bulletins for three unidentified Spanish-speaking men suspected of being involved in the May 17 bomb attack at the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost.
Ignite News reported that, according to police, the blasts occurred around 12:47 hrs on the mentioned date and targeted both the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost, located at Vlissengen Square and East Front Road, and the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Substation on Mandela Avenue.
Authorities are still investigating the possibility of a coordinated attack.
Further information revealed that a police rank on duty at the time reported hearing two distinct explosions, followed by debris striking rooftops. The southern wall of the police outpost sustained major damage, and the metal gate on the southern perimeter was destroyed. Damage was also reported at the GPL Substation.
Police confirmed that several persons of interest were contacted and are cooperating with the investigation.
Forensic teams and investigators are analyzing all available evidence, with valuable information provided by eyewitnesses.
The Guyana Police Force has reassured the public that every effort is being made to ensure safety and bring those responsible to justice.
Although no serious injuries were reported, the blast caused damage to the facility’s back gate and fence.
While the suspects’ names remain unconfirmed, investigators have obtained photographs and described them as ‘Spanish-speaking.’ CCTV footage from nearby businesses and residences is being reviewed to gather more evidence.
