Dr Ramsammy re-elected GPHC Chairman  

Dr.Leslie Ramsammy

Dr Leslie Ramsammy was re-elected Chairman of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Thursday following the inaugural meeting of its newly appointed Board of Directors for the 2025/2026 term.

He is tasked with leading the board and ensuring it fulfills its mission of improving patient care, reinforcing institutional frameworks, and implementing policies aligned with the ministry’s vision for a modernised healthcare system.

The Board comprises a diverse team of experienced professionals from the medical and administrative sectors. The Directors include Dr Bheri Ramsarran, Dr Leslie Ramsammy, Dr Emanuel Cummings, Dr Amarnauth Dukhi, Mr Harryram Parmessar, Ms Cleopatra Barkoye, Ms Dawn Gardener, and Ms Verna Adrian.

Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony delivered the feature address, formally charging the board with its mandate to strengthen healthcare delivery, enhance governance, and drive modernisation efforts at Guyana’s leading public hospital.

He also underscored the board’s pivotal role in spearheading strategic initiatives, fostering innovation, and maintaining the hospital’s position at the forefront of medical excellence in Guyana.

He highlighted key priorities for the term, including infrastructure expansion, workforce development, capacity building, and patient-centred care. Discussions were also held on advancing technological innovations in medical services, strengthening partnerships, and improving access to high-quality healthcare for all citizens.
