Navindra Rambarran, 25, a pump attendant from Evergreen, Essequibo Coast, died in an accident sometime between Wednesday night and early this morning at Evergreen.
Police enquiries revealed that Rambarran resided with his wife, Sarah Camble, 25, of Amerindian descent. According to Sarah, her husband occasionally consumed alcohol.
She further stated that at around 15:00 hrs on Wednesday, he left home on his motorcycle to go out, and by 20:00 hrs that night, he had not returned. She made several calls to his mobile phone, and he assured her that he was on his way home. However, he did not return.
At approximately 05:45 hrs today, she received information that his body had been found floating in the canal, while his motorcycle was located nearby on the dam with both mirrors broken off.
A report was made at the Charity Police Station by Gavindra Rambarran, the deceased’s brother.
The body was transported to Charity Cottage Hospital, where it was examined by Dr Mahase, who pronounced him dead on arrival. There appeared to be fish bites on his face and right ear, as well as bruises on his forehead.
The body is currently at the Suddie Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
