In a joint operation with French authorities, the Government of Guyana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), the Guyana-flagged vessel “Solo” was boarded and searched off the West African coast.

The search led to the discovery of 6.3 tonnes of cocaine, packaged in bales.

The vessel’s crew, consisting of one Colombian, one Dominican, and four Guyanese nationals, has been detained, and investigations are ongoing, a release from the Ministry of Home said.

The Government of Guyana has reiterated its commitment to enhancing international cooperation in the fight against transnational organised crime, particularly narcotics trafficking.
