2,400 students registered for digital learning

The introduction of digital learning in Guyana has received a very positive response, with 2,400 students now registered for the Guyana Digital School programme. This update was shared in a recent post on the Ministry of Education’s Facebook page.

The success of the programme is attributed to the efforts of Education Minister Priya Manickchand, who has actively engaged with students from Abram Zuil Secondary, St. Rose’s High School, and North Ruimveldt Multilateral School.

This initiative aims to transform education through technology and has been widely welcomed by students, teachers, and parents. During Manickchand’s most recent visit to Abram Zuil Secondary School in Region Two on Monday, students and teachers expressed their appreciation for the programme, emphasising its potential to supplement classroom instruction, provide additional learning resources, and facilitate self-paced learning.

The platform also allows students to revise content at their convenience, reinforcing concepts taught in the classroom. Additionally, the initiative provides interactive lessons, digital textbooks, educational videos, and personalised learning paths to support students across various subject areas.

Addressing students and teachers, Minister Manickchand highlighted the critical role of digital learning in modern education. She emphasised that the project is designed to bridge educational gaps and equip students with essential 21st-century skills through diversified learning. She also noted that such initiatives are vital for students in both urban and rural areas, ensuring that access to quality education is not limited by geography.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced the Guyana Digital School initiative in May 2024, highlighting its goal of enhancing learning accessibility through a dynamic online platform for academic enrichment.

Registration remains open for students interested in joining the programme.
