Guyana’s military veterans remain steadfast in their support against Venezuelan aggression, reaffirming that all 83,000 square miles of land and its maritime zone are the exclusive property of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
In a statement today addressing Venezuela’s incursion into Guyana’s maritime zone, the Guyana Veterans Legion expressed grave concern over what it described as “highly offensive activities” carried out by Venezuela’s military against Guyana’s personnel and interests.
The Legion recalled the recent attack on six Guyana Defence Force river patrol members in the Cuyuni River, followed by the encroachment of an armed Venezuelan military vessel on Guyana’s oil and gas assets in the Stabroek Block. It stated that these incidents are not random but part of a deliberate strategy to destabilize and intimidate Guyana.
The Legion emphasised that, as a sovereign nation, Guyana has the right to engage in business ventures whenever and with whomever it chooses.
Additionally, the Legion firmly rejected any attempts at intimidation from Venezuela and reiterated its unwavering support for the Government and the Guyana Defence Force. It also called on all Guyanese to remain united in the face of these threats.
