The Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) on Sunday donated 75 boxes of Morning Glory breakfast cereal to the One Family Programme in Barbados.
The generous gesture was facilitated by the Guyana Office for Investment, the agency said in a Facebook post, noting that the contribution was sourced from the Essequibo Coast.
The donation was officially presented on the final day of Agro Fest 2025.
Guyana’s Chief Investment Officer and Head of the Guyana Office for Investment, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, along with Guyana’s Consul General to Barbados, Gill Harry, conducted the handover.
“This initiative underscores the strengthening collaboration between Guyana and Barbados, showcasing how investment facilitation can drive impactful humanitarian efforts. It reflects Guyana’s commitment to fostering regional partnerships that enhance food security and uplift vulnerable communities,” the Guyana Office for Investment said.
Meanwhile, nearly 80 Guyanese businesses participated in this year’s Agro Fest, with many reporting positive feedback.
The event was hosted in Bridgetown from 21 to 23 February.
It aligns with President Dr Irfaan Ali’s Vision 2030 plan, which aims to position Guyana as a key player in reducing CARICOM’s food import bill and expanding market access for local businesses.
