Little Diamond man stabbed to death

Shiv Persaud, 23, an ‘Auto Body’ technician and resident of Lot 89 Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara, was reportedly murdered on Sunday in the Skull City area, Little Diamond.

According to a police report, investigations revealed that Persaud was at a shop in Skull City consuming alcohol during the day.

The report further noted that during this time, he had a misunderstanding with the suspect, identified as Alex Gonsalves, who was also drinking. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation.

Around 22:30hrs, Persaud was with a friend, Daimon Ramnarine, 26, in the Skull City area when they were confronted by the suspect, who was armed with a knife.

The suspect allegedly attacked Persaud, delivering several stabs to his body.

In an attempt to intervene, Ramnarine was also stabbed.

He then rushed Persaud to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where Persaud succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

Ramnarine was treated for his injuries but later discharged himself to seek further care at a private hospital.

Police later examined the body of the deceased and observed injuries consistent with stab wounds on his left shoulder, left chest, and other parts of his body.

The body has been transported to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, and investigations are ongoing.

 

 

UPDATE: Murder suspect, Alex Gonsalves, was captured by Police at about 11:00 hrs today. He is in custody assisting with the investigation.
