Phillip Rose, a 40-year-old resident of Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice, appeared before the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with assaulting Marissa Brutus of Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam.
Rose, who serves as General Manager of Little Rock Television Station (LRTVS) in Region Six, appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias, where the charge was formally read to him.
The court heard that on January 8, 2026, Rose assaulted Brutus at the television station’s premises.
Rose, who was not represented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution did not object to bail, and Magistrate Matthias granted him bail in the sum of $20,000.
The matter was adjourned to June 8, 2026, for further proceedings.
Information reaching this publication indicates that the alleged assault stemmed from a dispute involving a wages book at the television station.
Rose, who assumed the position of General Manager in late September 2025, reportedly became involved in a physical confrontation with Brutus, the station’s Marketing Manager.
A video recording of the incident has since surfaced and has been widely circulated on social media.
