The deceased, Isabella Dabadial, a student of Cooper Primary School, was reportedly suffocated by her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, 26, a ten-day worker from the area. Her younger brother, Ethan Dabadial, aged 1 year and 9 months, survived the attack. Both children are of East Indian descent.

Initial reports indicate that Shivpersaud had been experiencing personal difficulties, including her husband leaving the home several days earlier. She reportedly told authorities that she had not eaten that morning, which she said contributed to her actions.

After the incident, Shivpersaud attempted to harm herself but was treated and remains in stable condition under police supervision at Port Mourant Public Hospital.

Meanwhile, Isabella was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while her brother Ethan received medical care and is now recovering.
