The sixth edition of Guyana’s largest women’s exposition, ‘We Lift 6’, has been deemed a success, with 30 percent of participants being new women entrepreneurs, Human Services and Social Security Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud said.
The event, held over the weekend at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, featured 400 women in business, showcasing their talent, creativity, and innovation.
First-time participant Keisha, of Kiesha’s Crab Shack Seafood On The Sea, described the experience as refreshing.
“This is an amazing opportunity to get your business out there as a women-owned business. We didn’t have to spend a cent apart from bringing our products to sell. It’s just an incredible opportunity for women,” she noted.
Speaking on Sunday, Minister Persaud, who conceptualised the initiative, praised the attendance of thousands over the two days and the high level of participation by women entrepreneurs.
“It was a joy to hear from them and receive the positive feedback at the end of We Lift 6. Most people said that everything was sold out. Some items were gone even before 8 p.m. tonight. Saturday was huge, but today was incredible,” she added.
The annual event continues to empower and inspire women entrepreneurs by providing a major platform to showcase their skills and expand their networks.
