PPP/C pledges higher wages, housing support for disciplined forces if re-elected

Guyana’s ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) on Thursday pledged higher wages, housing support and expanded benefits for the country’s disciplined forces if returned to office in the September 1 elections.

In a letter to members of the joint services, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister Mark Phillips said service members can expect better pay, help to own homes, expanded scholarships, childcare facilities, more opportunities for promotion and improved access to healthcare and recreational services over the next five years.

The leaders said the PPP/C had already delivered on key promises, including restoring the one-month tax-free bonus worth $2 billion annually, raising salaries, accelerating promotions and expanding training.

They argued that only the PPP/C can guarantee continued security and stability, urging the disciplined forces to back the party at the polls.
