Kenneth Junior Douglas, a 21-year-old pork knocker from the Bladen Hall Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara, has been remanded to prison after being charged with the manslaughter of Prince Howell.

Douglas, known by the nickname “Sunny,” appeared on Monday morning before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was formally read to him. As manslaughter is an indictable offence, Douglas was not required to enter a plea at this stage. He was subsequently remanded to prison until his next court date, which is set for August 15, 2025.

Police arrested Douglas on Friday, July 25, 2025, in connection with Howell’s death, which reportedly occurred on April 6, 2025, at Vigilance. Following the incident, the Guyana Police Force issued a wanted bulletin for Douglas and made public appeals for information to help locate him.

No further details about the circumstances surrounding Howell’s death were disclosed during Monday’s hearing. Police investigators are continuing their work on the case ahead of the next court appearance.

The matter has been adjourned to August 15, when Douglas is expected to return to court as legal proceedings continue.
