The Meten-Meer-Zorg truck parking facility is now 65% complete, with six contractors actively engaged in the development of the 16-acre site.

Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, visited the facility on Friday and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing works.

Once completed, the facility will accommodate approximately 300 trucks, providing designated parking for commercial vehicles and helping to reduce the parking of heavy-duty vehicles in residential communities.

Minister Croal indicated that a management committee will be established to oversee the facility’s operations, while the payment structure and operational guidelines are expected to be announced within the next couple of weeks.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure, promote orderly parking, and provide organised spaces for commercial vehicle operators.

The Meten-Meer-Zorg facility is among several truck parking facilities being developed across the country, with current efforts focused on Regions Six, Three and Four.
