Ziggy Webster, a 34-year-old gold miner, died after he was allegedly stabbed by his 27-year-old reputed wife during an argument at a mining camp, Police said.

Webster, of 111 Miles, Mahdia Airstrip, was at his camp at Noitgedacht Backdam, Potaro, when the incident occurred about midnight on Thursday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Webster and his reputed wife, a cook, argued at their camp. Police said Webster allegedly dealt her several cutlass chops about the body, and she allegedly stabbed him in the right buttock with a kitchen knife.

Both were taken to the Mahdia District Hospital, where a doctor pronounced Webster dead. His body was taken to the Campbelltown Mortuary to await a post-mortem examination.

The woman remains hospitalised under Police guard in stable condition. Investigations are ongoing.
